Amadis Strengthens Its Partnership with JCB to Accelerate Tap to Pay on Android Deployment

Montreal, 03/13/2026 – Amadis, a leading payment software provider, today announced the reinforcement of its partnership with JCB, the only international payment brand based in Japan. This collaboration aims to accelerate the deployment of JCB acceptance through Tap to Pay on Android solutions, enabling payment players to better serve JCB cardholders worldwide.

Founded in Japan in 1961, JCB has grown into a global payment network with acceptance in more than 160 countries and territories. While deeply rooted in Asia, JCB continues to expand its merchant base rapidly across Europe and the Middle East, driven by increasing demand from travelers and residents seeking to use their preferred payment method abroad.

Tac Watanabe, Head of Brand Infrastructure & Technologies Headquarters, JCB Co., Ltd. Commented:

“Contactless payments represent a core pillar of JCB’s global growth strategy. We are delighted to collaborate closely with Amadis, whose deep expertise in Tap-to-Pay technologies enables us to scale JCB acceptance across diverse markets. This partnership reinforces our commitment to delivering secure and convenient payment experiences for both merchants and JCB cardmembers worldwide.

JCB Acceptance: A Strategic Opportunity for Merchants and PSPs

Accepting JCB allows merchants and payment service providers to facilitate JCB acceptance and therefore reach a high-spending and loyal customer base, particularly from Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. JCB cardholders are widely recognized for their strong purchasing power, especially in customer-present sectors such as travel, hospitality and retail.

By enabling JCB, merchants benefit from increased transaction volumes, strong brand recognition among its cardholders s, and compliance with the highest international security standards.

JCB Kernel Integration with Amadis

Amadis provides a certified JCB Level 2 kernel, designed to integrate seamlessly into modern payment environments, with a strong focus on Android COTS-based solutions.

The Amadis JCB kernel offers:

  • Seamless integration with existing payment infrastructures
  • No development (VS in-house kernel) and Level 2 certification effort required
  • Enhanced transaction security aligned with global EMV standards and MPoC requirements
  • Faster and standardized deployment for acquirers, PSPs, and fintechs

Built for scalability and interoperability, the Amadis EMV Level 2 stack supports a wide range of use cases, from traditional terminals to next-generation SoftPOS solutions.

“We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with JCB and to accelerate the deployment of JCB acceptance through Tap to Pay on Android,” said Benjamin Laurent, President of Amadis. “This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to innovation and global interoperability. By combining JCB’s strong international presence with our certified JCB kernel, we empower our customers to unlock new growth opportunities and better serve Asian cardholders worldwide.”

Accelerating Time-to-Market with Tap to Pay on Android

As part of this strengthened partnership, Amadis supports JCB acceptance on SoftPOS solutions. Thanks to its EMV Level 2 certification for JCB, where customers implement the JCB Level 2 Kernel as a turn-key solution, they can proceed directly to EMV Level 3 certification, significantly reducing certification, costs, efforts and go-to-market timelines.

This approach enables payment players to deploy JCB acceptance quickly and efficiently on Android CoTS devices, without the need for additional hardware.

Expanding Global Reach with JCB and Amadis

By partnering with Amadis to enable JCB acceptance, payment providers and merchants gain access to a fast-growing international payment network and position themselves to capture new revenue streams.

Amadis supports its customers at every stage, from payment kernel integration and EMV certification to deployment and international expansion.
